University of Malaya Visits GDUFS for Cooperation

On the morning of June 10th, delegates from the University of Malaya (UM) visited GDUFS. Representatives, including Muhammad Mokhtar Abu Hasan, Dean of the Academy of Malay Studies and Ab. Razak Ab. Karim, Dean of the Faculty of Malay. Vice President FANG Fanquan received the guests in the VIP Room of the North Campus. Also in attendance were CAI Hong, the Director of the International Office, LUO Yiyuan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures and TAN Xiao, Associate Director of the Education and Research Center for Minority Languages.

 

 

Vice President FANG started the conversation by reviewing the educational achievements of GDUFS and introducing the university’s record for the cultivation of talents. Since the Malay major will begin to admit students in the fall of 2015 and offer them chance to study abroad for half a year, the meeting between GDUFS and UM is of great significance in terms of the exchange of students and recruiting foreign teachers as well as academic exchanges.

 

 

The University of Malaya, established in 1949 in Singapore, is now a comprehensive, research-intensive university. Prof. Hasan noted that UM covers the whole spectrum of learning from the Arts to the Sciences and Humanities; all of which provide an exciting learning experience for international students. He also commended the excellent performance of Chinese students who have served as the exchange students between UM and Beijing Foreign Studies University, Yunnan University of Nationalities, Guangxi University for Nationalities etc. Therefore, he hoped that the collaborative partnership with GDUFS will broaden the horizons and improve the language abilities of students in our universities.

 

 

Later, both signed the cooperation agreement and exchanged gifts. Lastly, Prof. Hansa expressed his wish that Vice President FANG could visit UM to better understand the dynamism of its people.
