Introduction

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) is one of the prestigious universities in Canton, China which specializes in international studies and educates professionals for international business and management.

 

The school of Legal Studies was founded in 2001, growing out from its former basis as the Faculty of International Law established in 1996. It is one of the schools which are focused developed by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies during the period of “the twelfth five-year plan”. The School holds the motto of "Strive for Moral Integrity, Noble Conduct and Conversance with Cross-cultural Learning" and endeavors to promote the integration of foreign languages and specialties, cultivate talents who can pride themselves on one specialty with multiple skills and a global vision and a sense of innovation, so as to prepare them to become internationally-oriented personnel who can readily facilitate global cooperation and participate in international competition.

 

The School of Legal Studies endeavors in course construction and has gained remarkable achievement. There are currently three bachelor degrees awarded, which are Bachelor's degree in Law (majored in four different directions: International Economic Law, Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law and Legal Studies), Bachelor's degree in Diplomacy and Bachelor's degree in International Politics. Besides, the School has been authorized to offer Category I Master of Law program, Category I Master of Politics and Juris Master Programs.

 

Responsibilities and Requirements:

 

International Investment Law is a 36-hour core course. The objective of the course is to have a good understanding in the concepts of international investment and the law of international investment, the role and principles of the investment law; to know the subjects of investment, the patterns of investment, the investment laws of the output countries and input countries, WTO and international investment, etc.

 

EU Law is a 36-hour core course. The aim of learning the course is to know the history and nature of European Union, to know the construction and characteristics of EU law, to know the EU Treaties, the EU company Law and other legal systems, and know the relationship between the EU law and the laws of EU members.

 

International Commercial Law is a 36-hour core course. The objectives of the course is to understand and master the uniform laws of international trade, to know the main laws and treaties related of the west countries, and know the regulation and management on the world trade, and the arbitration and/or procedures in settling the trade disputes, to analyse the practical problems, training and enhancing the students’ capability in solving practical problems.

 

WTO Law is a 36-hour core course. The objective of learning the course is to know the formation and history of WTO, and the relationship between GATT and WTO, to have a good understanding of the purposes and principles of WTO, the institutional framework of WTO and their functions and policy-making procedures, have a well understanding in the system of reviewing and Dispute Settling Bodies.

 

International Intellectual Property Law is a 36-hour core course. International Convention is important legal way of protecting intellectual proterty rights. This course, through the introduction and research of the relative conventions, will let the students grasp the main ideas of the basic theory of the international protection of intellectual property rights and their practice.

 

Series of Lecture on International Affairs is a 36-hour core course. The course aims at studying international relations in the current series of hot and difficult problems, so that students have an emotional understanding of international relations, and lay a solid foundation for in-depth study of basic theories and methods of international relations.

 

Requirements:

 

· Doctor/Master in Law/International relations from a leading overseas’ institute.

· Two or Three-year teaching experiences or equivalent working experiences in University.

· To teach in fluent English.

· To identify the concepts and theory of Law/International relations.
