On the morning of March 23rd (Praia time), Tolentino, the Foreign Minister of Cape Verde, visited the Confucius Institute of Cape Verde University. Accompanying were the President of Cape Verde University, Mrs. Nascimento; Vice President Joao and Vice President Sofia. ZHENG Qingjun, Deputy of the Confucius Institute of Cape Verde University, along with teachers and staff, received the guests. It was a time when Cape Verde and China celebrated the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship. And the opening ceremony of the Confucius Institute of Cape Verde University is going to be held in April.

ZHENG Qingjun treated Tolentino with a cup of Biluochun tea, whose fragrance won continuous praise from the guests. When the delegates were visiting the Confucius Institute, they were informed that about 60 students had been recruited so far, and there were two different classes: Confucius Institution Class and Cape Verde University Students’ Class. In addition, the Cape Verde University Students’ Class was set up as an elective class. Hearing these, Tolentino said “amazing” with admiration and thought it was gratifying that the Confucius Institute made achievements in such a short time and in a small country like Cape Verde. He was hopeful about the prospects of Chinese studies in Cape Verde.

In front of the notice board, Tolentino stopped and listened carefully to the introduction of activities and events taking place at the Confucius Institute of Cape Verde University since its establishment, and the arrangement of Chinese courses in the second term. He was particularly interested in the weekly Chinese Culture Lesson and the monthly experience courses of cultural activities. He said he would take part in these activities if he were available.
