On February 27, a delegation led by Professor Ricardo Paes Mamede, Vice Rector of Iscte - University Institute of Lisbon, Portugal, visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Shen Minghao, Vice President of GDUFS, met with the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides held in-depth discussions on faculty and student exchanges, program collaboration, joint research collaboration, and the co-cultivation of high-level talents.

Shen extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the university’s achievements in internationalization and academic development. He noted that as a key university under Guangdong Province’s high-level development initiative, GDUFS boasts distinctive strengths in foreign languages, offering 33 language programs and establishing an interdisciplinary talent cultivation model characterized by “Foreign Language +,” such as the double bachelor’s degree program in “Portuguese + International Economics and Trade.” He emphasized that the university attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchange, having established partnerships with 523 universities and academic institutions across 70 countries and regions worldwide. GDUFS has also launched joint master’s and doctoral training programs with numerous universities in Europe and North America. Taking this visit as an opportunity, he expressed hope that the two institutions would achieve substantive breakthroughs in high-level joint training programs and Sino-foreign cooperative education programs in areas such as international business, digital economy, e-commerce accounting, and global governance, while further expanding faculty and student exchanges and academic collaboration.
