GDUFS 2019 Teachers' Day: Celebrating the Amazing Faculty of GDUFS with Song and Dance

North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, September 5^th 2019: The GDUFS 2019 Teachers' Day Award Ceremony was held in the Yunshan Hall on North Campus. SUI Guangjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of GDUFS, and SHI Youqi, President of GDUFS, delivered speeches and made recognition reports respectively. Wang Tinghui, Vice President of GDUFS, presided over the meeting. He Chuantian, Vice President of GDUFS; LIU Haichun; CHEN Linhan; YANG Aimin; JIAO Fangtai; other GDUFS’s Leadership; and all the university’s faculty attended the meeting. A “Flash” song and dance show of “I Miss You, My Teacher” and “Me and My Motherland” was put on at the ceremony. A group of students expressed a sincere blessing to all the teachers by singing and dancing. All the teachers and students sang “Me and My motherland”, waving the China’s starred red flag to express their deep love and good wishes.

SUI Guangjun, on behalf of GDUFS’s leadership, extended sincere and warm wishes to all the teaching staff who worked hard and expressed thanks to the retired comrades who cared for and supported the reform and development of GDUFS. SUI Guangjun summed up the outstanding achievement made by GDUFS in the past year. Facing GDUFS’s development, SUI analyzed the new situation and the new tasks ahead, and put forward three expectations for all the teaching staff: First, stick to the initial heart of education; adhere to the feelings of GDUFS; charge bravely into new territory. He hoped that GDUFSers put their talents to good use; respond positively to the call of the times, focus on major development strategies; contribute “GDUFS wisdom” to national and regional development; and strive to enhance the sense of achievement, happiness, and sense of security of teachers and students. Second, live up to the mission of educating people, carrying forward the fine morals of teachers. While setting an example with strict self – discipline, SUI hoped teachers could maintain the “field of responsibility” of fostering virtue through education. Third, adhere to the pursuit of excellence, constructing a new pattern for GDUFS in the future. Great truths are always simple, and practice is essential. SUI hoped that teachers could continue improving, and highlight the melody of seeing the Party self – governance exercised fully and with rigor; seize opportunities; meet the major strategic needs of each country and regions; train hard to build internal strength; and fight the battle of GDUFS’ implicit development.

In the recognition report, SHI Youqi summed up the goals of the last year, and hoped that all the teaching staff would practice the “4 haves” requirements of good teachers: “have ideals and belief; have moral sentiment; have solid knowledge; have a kind heart.” Never forget why you started in education; keep virtue alive by fostering virtue through education in mind; continuously carry forward the spirits of “work with perseverance and the pursuit of excellence”. Forge ahead with the heart, and carve the new face of a prestigious university characterized by a distinctive international flavor to welcome the 70^th birthday of the People’s Republic of China with excellent achievements.

JIAO Fangtai read out the list of important projects and awards in teaching practice and scientific research, and the list of GDUFS honorary titles at or above the city hall level in the 2018-2019 academic year.

 

The GDUFS’s leadership issued the certificates of honor to the National Teaching Achievement Award winning team representative; winners of the 9^th Teaching Famous Teachers Award in Guangdong Province; winners of “Moral Standard Teachers” award; excellent overseas teachers and advanced units for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. They also issued certificates of retirement to retired faculty representative from September 1^st 2018 to August 31^st 2019.
