North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, August 25th2019: Bidding farewell to the scorching heat and welcoming the refreshing breeze, GDUFS embraced its new arrivals. Freshmen from all over the world joined the GDUFS family with great passion and longing, creating a lively atmosphere on campus. This year, 5097 undergraduate freshmen and 1346 postgraduate freshmen were admitted to GDUFS, starting a new journey which opportunities and challenges coexists.

Welcome to GDUFS

With Big Data, the new will beknown in no time

With the adoption of the Big Data system, faculties from both North and South campus can easily get access to updated information from the network. As the registration procedures were greatly simplified by digitalization, freshmen only needed to scan the QR code to finish the registration on their phones. Big Data combined with application programs: all formalities can be finished in a matter of minutes.

“Pre-education makes me a GDUFSer before registration.”

One distinguishing feature this year is that GUDFS has started freshmen pre-education supported by the Yiban platform. The number of students studying and socializing on the GDUFS Yiban platform stands out among many universities. Students say that the pre-education courses on Yiban platform enables them to know about GDUFS, which makes them feel like that they are already a GDUFSer even before entering the school.

Fluttering banners, glowing smiles

For freshmen and parents who still feel puzzled, the dean and teachers of the Faculty of English Language and Culture arrived to help them sort out questions related to curriculum design and many other aspects.

This way please

When walking along the campus, it was not hard to notice the volunteers dressed in bright color all walking briskly to their positions. Messy hair, sweaty shirts and sore throats, yet they still persisted to offer the promptest and most useful guidance to the new arrivals: glowing heartfelt smiles to welcome junior schoolmates. “We hope that we can make our utmost efforts to offer help and guidance, embracing them with the warmth of their senior fellows,” said a senior volunteer.

Apart from the teachers and student volunteers, the school support crew also provided backup service. The security guards remained on standby all the time to ensure the safety of the campus while the maintenance crew was ready to deal with any unexpected situations.

With so many professional, patient, friendly teachers and volunteers, as well as the support crew, freshmen hearts were warmed by their sincere and heartfelt service.

Hanging decorations to welcome freshmen

Aside from all the helping hands reaching out to the new blood, freshmen were also impressed by the well-decorated signs and waving banners across campus. Banners of different faculties represented particular GDUFS characteristics: the School of Business made a signature wall and the College of Art prepared cardboards in the shape of “Wechat Moments” to get freshmen involved in the GDUFS atmosphere.
