North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, November 22nd 2018: Abd Elwahab Ezzat, President of Ain Shams University in Egypt, and his team visited GDUFS. SUI Guangjun, Chairman of University Board, and SHI Youqi, President of GDUFS, respectively met the guests. The two sides exchanged opinions on different topics: construction of the Confucius Classroom; Chinese teaching; exchange of teachers and students; and collaborative research. JIAO Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS; CAI Hong, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; LIANG Xuehong, Dean of the Institute for International Education; LIU Jisen, Executive Vice Dean of the Institute for African Studies of GDUFS; and principals of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture and the School of Information Science and Technology attended the meeting.

SUI noted that Ain Shams University is an important partner of GDUFS. The two universities have progressively promoted the construction of the Confucius Institute and have gained incipient achievements since the signing of the Execution Protocol of the Confucius Institute in October, 2017. The two sides hoped this visit can improve communication and collaboration on the construction of the Confucius Classroom and many other aspects, and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
SHI expressed his warm welcome to the delegation of Ain Shams University. He pointed out that GDUFS has a good cooperative relationship with Ain Shams University. Since the Confucius Classroom was established in Ain Shams University, activities like Chinese teaching, culture promotion and training have been held successfully. He hoped the two sides can have further cooperation and promote the relationship between the two universities.
Abd Elwahab Ezzat showed his delight for his first visit to GDUFS. He mentioned that the Confucius Classroom in Ain Shams University has a good reputation locally and receives many students’attention. The establishment of the Confucius Classroom answers to the needs of The Belt and Road Initiative and Sino-African cooperation. He hoped the two universities can enhance information sharing and communication on the construction of the Confucius Classroom in Ain Shams University and expand the realms of collaboration.
