If you happen to pass through Guangzhou South Railway Station during the eight-day holiday, you might have a chance to take a glimpse of this high-tech machine. The ticket machines in Guangzhou South Railway Station check the passengers by their faces, which is called “face recognition technology”. To pass the ticket gate, people only need to insert their ticket and second-generation ID card into the ticket machine, then look at the face-recognition camera, and wait for its scanning. The whole process will just take three to eight seconds, which is much faster than the traditional ticket machines.

Besides face recognition technology, the robot named XiaoLu also attracts people’s attention. With a previously implanted procedure, XiaoLu can answer passengers’ questions by voice, offering information about train schedule, ticket purchases and site guide. What’s more, she can also perform dancing according to the passengers’ preference, which makes her so popular at Guangzhou South Railway Station.
