The Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, which is now a museum on Jiefang Bei Road, Guangzhou, is a nice place to visit during the National Holiday. It was set up at the site of the tomb of the second King of the Nanyue Kingdom in the period of China’s Western Han Dynasty. Discovered under the Elephant Hill on Jiefang Bei Road in 1983, it is considered as one of the five major archaeological finds in modern China. Musical instruments, copper ware, jade ware and silver were found in the tomb are still delicate and gorgeous even today. These fine culture relics make the tomb crucial for studies of both Chinese history and art. Besides, the gold seal of Emperor Wen is the first emperor’s seal unearthed in China, which is of great value.

Tired of all the heavy work during the weekdays, you should probably find a relaxing place to take a break. As the biggest comprehensive park in Guangzhou, Yuexiu Park offers a nice combination of both charming scenery and cultural activities.
Yuexiu Park
Located on Yuexiu Mountain, the name of Yuexiu Park has been spread since the king of the first feudal dynasty in south China invited a foreign envoy and had a feast here. It is also on the list of the “Eight Sights of Guangzhou”. Inside the park, the ancient city wall of Ming Dynasty wounds its way across the trees. Standing on the Wanghai Tower, the Zhujiang River can be seen running wildly. You can also visit Sun Yat-sen Monument, inside of which you can climb the stairs to overlook the city.
