With an aim of furthering the scope of cooperation between the two parties, a delegation headed by Jan Tomas, President of Massey University, and MEI Ruiqi, Consul General of New Zealand in Guangzhou, paid a visit to GDUFS. SUI Guangjun, General Secretary and President of  GDUFS, JIAO Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS, as well as other representatives, received the distinguished guests in the VIP Hall on the South Campus by extending a warm welcome to them.

During the meeting, SUI Guangjun gave an introduction of GDUFS from a variety aspects especially from history, the outstanding feature of internationalization in the training process, and dazzling achievements so far. He stated that with the focus on humanities and social sciences disciplines and rapid development of scientific research, those projects around which scientific studies center can be essential and supportive to the decision-making of local and national governments. Therefore, he expressed the sincere hope of strengthening cooperation in fields like scientific research and people-to-people communication between both universities, which can benefit a lot.

Jan Tomas echoed what SUI said and she endorsed the view that a university should dedicate itself to the development of communities, government and the whole society. After introducing Massey University, Jan said that this meeting was bound to turn to a new chapter as for the bilateral cooperation, and the sooner it was possible for both universities’ teachers and students to communicate and learn from each other, the better.

MEI Ruiqi spoke highly of GDUFS as an extraordinary university which was proven by the satisfactory figure of employment rates and employment quality. The consulate was ready to render more support for the cooperation and convinced that this could bring out more energy and vigor for two sides.
