An Indonesian Youth Group Visited GDUFS

In May , an Indonesian youth group visited GDUFS and participated in a series of activities on the subject of “China - Indonesia Youth Exchange”. Representatives were Yu Da - Nikita, a member of Indonesian Foreign Policy Association; Veronica Handa Yiannis, the secretary of the East Asia Department of Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry; Fan Fanquan, Vice President of GDUFS; LI Yongning, a professor from Guangdong Institute for International Strategy; YIN Siyan, a representative of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and students from Indonesian college and GDUFS. The activity was hosted by LIANG Xuehong, Dean of the Institute for International Education.

China-Indonesia Youth Dialogue

Vice President FANG firstly extended a warm welcome to all the guests. After briefly introducing the international development strategies of GDUFS, FANG mentioned the long-time friendship and cooperation that GDUFS has made with 19 Indonesian colleges. He believed that teenagers from both of the two countries should carry on the collaboration. At last, he wished the visiting group to enjoy their trip here.

Following this, Professor LI delivered a speech on “Chinese economy: from Growth to Development”. He penetrated deeply into the development of the Chinese economy, the economic connection between China and the world and the sustainable way of developing the Chinese economy after the reform and opening policy. Additionally, he elaborated on the present as well as the future of the Chinese economy through numerous data and graphs.

After the lecture, a conversation among the teenagers was triggered. With the topic of “dreams” as a lead-in, LIANG Xuehong guided the teenagers on both sides to have a deeper discussion on the theme of “The dreams of the youth in a global context: the promotion of society”. Both Indonesian and Chinese youth representatives were very active in it and they pointed out some existing problems of the two countries’ development and worked out the solutions together.

Finally, LIANG Xuehong, YIN Siyan and Veronica Handa Yiannis drew a conclusion respectively and all of them confirmed the success of this Youth Dialogue. In addition, they encouraged teenagers from both countries to make every endeavor to make the society better.
