Big Data Coalition: GDUFS signed with China Translation Corporation

On 27th March, the preliminary conference of building Language Big Data Coalition initiated by Educational Steering Committee of Master of Translation and Interpreting, China Translation Corporation and GDUFS was held in Beijing. The Co-chairmen were: the Chairman of Educational Steering Committee of Master of Translation and Interpreting; former Deputy Director and Editor-in-Chief of China International Publishing Group; Vice President of Translators Association of China; “Yunshan Scholars” of GDUFS, HUANG YouYi; President of GDUFS, ZHONG WeiHe, and General Manager of China Translation Corporation, HUANG Song. During the conference, President ZHONG WeiHe and HUANG Song signed the strategic co-operation framework agreement.

President ZHONG said in his speech that in the era of “Internet Plus”, with the rapid development of new technology such as Cloud Computing, Big data and Mobile Internet, language services will continue to be bound to information technology more and more tightly, and therefore it was imperative to implement “language-big-data open plan”. He stressed that, as the main part of the executive of the open plan, “Language-big-data Coalition” would construct open platforms for governments, enterprises, colleges and universities and research institutes in terms of resources sharing and multi-cooperation. What’s more, it would provide resource support for scientific research, teaching and practice of universities, realizing gathering, exchanging and sharing global resources.

At the signing ceremony, President ZHONG pointed out that strategic co-operation between GDUFS and China Translation Corporation was significant, which attaches importance to cross-language big-data think tanks, machine translation, speech recognition and CAT, and so on. HUANG Song said that as the industry leader, China Translation Corporation would spare no effort to promote the collaborative innovation about technology resources and platforms with GDUFS and build the new cooperation model of “language + big data + strategic coalition”.

Attendees were Director of Office for Chairmen and Presidents of GDUFS, ZHI XiuCong; Director of Academic Research Division, CHEN YanHui; Vice Director of Collaborative Innovation Center for Language Research and Services, GE ShiLi, and more than 20 unit representatives including Vice President of Dalian University of Foreign Languages, YANG JunFeng, and Vice President of Xi’an International Studies University, DANG ZhengSheng. During the conference, they had in-depth discussions about language-big-data open plan, union regulations and cooperation rules of vital projects, and signed the written proposal of building language-big-data coalition.
