Charity Sale: Love is Always with Us

On December 1st and 8th, the Charity Sale sponsored by Yunshan Work-Study Center was held on the school avenue beside Shiyuan Dormitory No.4 (students' dormitory on the south campus of GDUFS). The theme of this Charity Sale is  "Love is Always with us". Through selling the idle items collected from our students in the Charity Sale, idle resources have been transformed into the charity money of 2282.5RMB, all of which will be donated to the program of  "Starry Sky Public Interest Library", so as to materialize our love.

In the activity, students who wanted to donate could bring their idle items to the stall directly; they could also fill in the information collection form on the WeChat Public Platform of Yunshan Work-Study Center. After hearing the passionate explanation of the staff, many students donated some of their personal belongings, such as dolls, books and bags. With a week's hard work of collection, arrangement, classification and price-fixing of those donations, the public benefit entity of Yunshan Work-study Center reunited on the school avenue and began the charity sale. In order to demonstrate their support, the benefit entity of the Center also participated the activity and donated some of the earnings on that day.

The second round of the Charity Sale was divided into two sectors: the Charity Area and the Service Area. The items in the Charity Area were provided by our students, the public benefit entity of Yunshan Work-study Center, as well as Starry Sky Commonweal Organizations. In the Service Area, some free services such as sewing and repairing cable were offered by Yunshan Self-Service Department and Yunshan Guangyuan Cyber port. On the basis of the service they received, students could pay a certain amount of money at their own free will. After knowing the purpose of the activity, some students said that: "Those items are quite cheap and they will not cost us an arm or a leg; what counts is that we can do something for the common good."

Message-leaving areas were set during the Charity Sale. Students' signatures and messages will be made into a message-leaving book which later will be presented to Starry Sky. 2282.5RMB was raised after the Charity sale, all of which has been donated to the program of  "Starry Sky Public Interest Library"  to make some contributions to the construction of children' s libraries in rural areas.

"Starry Sky Public Interest Library" Program was initiated by Starry Sky Teenager Public Benefit Development Center. By means of establishing a public library in countryside primary schools and communities in underdeveloped areas, the program can furnish books, reading desks, chairs, computers as well as a borrowing system for those students, and make joint efforts with local teachers to create a better reading environment.
