Eight New Yunshan Scholars Were Employed

On the morning of 3rd December, the employment ceremony of Yunshan scholars was held in the VIP Hall on the north campus. President ZHONG WeiHe awarded the letter of appointment to Lecture Professor of Yunshan of National Key Research Center for Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, CHENG LiYing; Lecture Professor of Yunshan of School of Finance, YI FaHuai; foreign Lecture Professor of Yunshan of Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, Terminasova Svetlana; Lecture Professor of Yunshan of Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, ZHOU XiaoBing; Young Scholar of Yunshan of Guangdong Legislation Research Evaluation and Consultation Service Base,YANG ZhiKun; Young Scholar of Yunshan of National Key Research Center for Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, WANG Qi; Young Scholars of Yunshan of School of Legal Studies, XU ShunFu and ZHUANG Han separately. All attendees were principals and academic backbones of relevant secondary units and functional departments. The ceremony was hosted by XIE WenXin, Director of Human Resources Division.

So far, GDUFS has employed 72 “Yunshan Scholars” in total, 61 of whom are still at work.

 

During the ceremony, ZHONG WeiHe gave a warm welcome and expressed sincere thanks to eight scholars for joining our university. He put forward the idea that GDUFS would adopt an introduction and employment principle that gather the gifted and talented at GDUFS, not all but appropriate, emphasizing the importance of excellent thoughts, teaching facilities, students and teaching staff to build sophisticated disciplines. At the same time “Yunshan Scholars” are “Special Forces” of GDUFS’s teaching staff, playing a vital role in talent training and innovative development of GDUFS. Eight Chinese and foreign Yunshan Scholars joining our university is going to bring international advanced research thoughts and methods to relevant subjects and promote international academic communication and cooperation. What’s more, it will promote the construction of a research team. At last, President ZHONG WeiHe hoped that secondary units and functional departments could create comfortable work and life conditions for scholars.

 

Eight scholars said that it was their great honor to join GDUFS and they would spare no effort to be engaged in their own work and make contributions to building sophisticated disciplines.

It is reported that to strengthen the administration of Yunshan Scholars and improve the qualities of the services for Yunshan Scholars, GDUFS introduced a new regulation in October, 2015: Management Measures of Employing Yunshan Scholars of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, which has enriched post categories of Yunshan scholars. In addition, the university has set up a new title “Post B of Young Yunshan Scholars”. They are responsible for national projects and the arrangements of academic backbones for GDUFS’s development.

Professor CHENG LiYing (Canadian) is a tenured professor and doctoral supervisor of the Faculty of Education of Queen's University, mainly devoting herself to researches about language test. She used to be editorial board member, reviewer and counselor of different international magazines. In addition, she has published over 100 papers on international academic journals. Her research achievements are widely accepted in academia.

 

Professor YI FaHuai, a famous scholar in the realm of finance, now acts as doctoral supervisor and professor of South China Normal University. He used to go to many colleges and universities such as University of Minnesota, Twin Cities which is situated in America, National University of Singapore and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for cooperative research and make breakthrough in investment and consumption problems. What’s more, he was responsible for a number of projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation. He won several honorary titles like “Guangdong Excellent Teacher” and “Guangdong Excellent Member of the Communist Party of Education System”.

 

Professor Terminasova Svetlana (Russian) is the counselor of Faculty of Foreign Languages and Area Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University. She was the originator of Russian Association for Applied Linguistics and Russian League for English Teachers and now acts as the chairman of them. Moreover, she is honorary professor of University of Birmingham and Department of Linguistics of New York University. She has won many domestic and international awards in the realm of social science such as Fulbright 50th Anniversary Scholarship.

 

Professor ZHOU XiaoBing is professor and doctoral supervisor of Sun Yat-sen University, who enjoyed special allowance given by the State Council. He is authoritative expert in the realm of international Education of Chinese Language in China. He successively acted as president of School of Chinese as a Second Language, Sun Yat-sen University, Director of Base for International Chinese Teaching Materials Development and Teacher Training, Vice President of Guangdong Chinese Language Association, etc. The main direction of his research is applied linguistics, modern Chinese grammar and international education of Chinese language.

 

Doctor YANG ZhiKun graduated from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. He joined GDUFS’s postdoctoral research station in 2014, being engaged in researches about regional integration and regional rules of law. The main direction of his research is administrative law and reform.

 

Doctor WANG Qi graduated from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, now acting as editor of Modern Foreign Languages Editorial Department. He is the member of Base for Research on Humanities and Social Science of GDUFS.

 

Doctor XU ShunFu (Japanese), who graduated from Nagoya University, is a master of Chinese language, Korean language and Japanese language. She was once responsible for simultaneous interpretation and paper translation at several international conferences. The main direction of her research is administrative law of Japan, comparative law of Sino-Japanese legal theory, etc.

 

Doctor ZHUANG Han graduated from Wuhan University, acting as director of China Administrative Law Society, secretary general of Hubei Province Sociological Law Society and so on. The main direction of his research is environmental law, administrative law and administrative procedure law.
