8th Election of GDUFS Academic Committee Members

On October 15th, with a piece of classical music resounding in the Lecture Hall of the 6th Building, school leaders, professors and teachers stepped into the solemn atmosphere one after another to attend the election meeting and cast a vital vote for their favored candidates. The meeting was presided over by President ZHONG Weihe with the purpose of forming a new Academic Committee with 29 new members out of the 94 candidates.

At the beginning, President ZHONG showed his gratitude to the 7th Academic Committee in recognition of its important role in academic deliberation, evaluation and administration during the last 4 years. Compared with the previous election method, professors’ joint recommendation was added as a professional way for participants to enroll. Considering the complexity and formality of the new election, President ZHONG described his expectations as follows: balloting with deep consideration and rational decision, obeying the ballot order and keeping positive about the possible result.

SHI Youqi, the Associate Director of the Working Group, read out The Election Method of GDUFS Academic Committee Members, which was approved by all teachers with voting rights. As President ZHONG introduced, among the 94 candidates 48 are are devoted to the subject of Language and Culture, 31 are devoted to the subject of Economics and Business and Law Comprehensive and 15 are devoted to others subjects.

Before the voting section, YANG Aiming, the Associate Director of the Working Group, elaborated on how to fill in the newly designed ballots. Later, all attendees approached the ballot box with a sense of mission and put down the papers with personal anticipation. The counting of votes, which was projected to a screen hung over the podium, went smoothly.

After two rounds, the election result was announced by President ZHONG, who encouraged the 29 newly elected members to take full responsibilities in terms of conducting orientation for the university, making and modifying teaching plans, shaping an academic atmosphere so as to build up a unique university with international characteristics.
