The Warm Welcome to the Freshmen of GDUFS

On September 13th, both the South Campus and the North Campuses of GDUFS took on a new look with the creative slogans from different faculties. At seven o’clock in the morning, all the volunteers were ready to welcome the freshmen. That day, more than 6000 undergraduates and postgraduates started their new life at GDUFS.

In the morning, President ZHONG Weiheand Vice President LIU Haichun of GDUFS inspected the welcoming work on the South Campus and the North Campus respectively. They asked about the welcoming work and went into the freshmen’s dormitories to understand the arrangements. In addition, they conveyed greetings to the freshmen and their parents, as well as all the volunteers.

ZHONG Weihe and other leaders headed to different faculties to greet the freshmen and hoped that all the students could achieve their dreams at GDUFS. He also checked the quality of the military training clothes in person. He also stressed the safety of food in the canteens. When visiting the dormitories, LIU Haichun and other leaders suggested developing an intelligent registration system to ensure the safety of students. What’s more, he highly praised the cooking class set up on the South Campus.

This year, every faculty made full preparations for the welcoming works. The registration process of this year is simple and efficient. The freshmen just needed to scan the QR code on their admission letters and sign their names to check their own information. Before the registration, the freshmen had already communicated with each other through QQ.

Volunteers from different faculties answer the various questions from the freshmen and guide them for registration. In order to promote the efficiency of the welcoming work, GDUFS set up six groups to finish the reception jobs.

The organized and detailed division of labor received acclaim from leaders, freshmen and parents. LIU Haichun highly praised the volunteers for their hard work. Many parents indicated that they were deeply affected by the enthusiasm and vigor of GDUFS.

Helping the disadvantaged students and not allowing them to drop out because of this is one of the “historical” commitments GDUFS has made. This year, we improved the range of subsidies and offered supporting jobs. Besides, students with qualifying conditions can obtain financial support without a doubt.

In the group of freshmen, student HUO is quite popular. He graduated from Zhixin High school and was admitted to the Spanish major with the highest score. ZHONG Weihe appreciated his excellence and believed that he would continue to develop at GDUFS. Student HUO told the journalist: “First of all, I want to focus on my Spanish study. Then I will carefully consider my options for continuing to a Master’s degree. For now, I prefer simultaneous interpreting. GDUFS is a peaceful place for me to study.” It has been learned that the President of Zhixin High school was invited to join the opening ceremony at the North Campus on Sep.14th.
