On 27th August, the seventh Asian Translators' Forum was held in Penang, Malaysia. The topic of the forum this time was defined as Translator Training: Innovation, Assessment and Recognition. Ping Hong, dean of School of Translation and Interpretation Studies attended the forum and made a speech.
On the forum, some world-renowned scholars and researchers of translation and interpretation studies such as Emeritus Salleh, Christiane Nord, Jeremy Munday, Franz Pochhacker gave their speeches based on the themes like translation assessment, translation and interpretation studies assisted by computers, translation training courses and sign language training and teaching, etc. Their researches aim at making breakthroughs and pushing boundary to new territory of translation studies with three distinctive features. The first is the vital importance attached to the combination of translation education and the translation market. The second is the innovation in translation training and education. Last comes with the translation studies assisted by computers as well as its future developmental prospect.

Students from GDUFS shared their up-to-date research projects with the audience in the forum and their ideas greatly kindled the interests of many experts. After the closing ceremony of the forum, Franz Pochhacker and some other celebrated scholars exchanged their ideas with our students and gave us some suggestions for improvement. All the students involved claimed that they have learned quite a few throughout this process, especially by communicating with world's top experts and scholars in this field.
