The 2013 Model APEC national quarter-final also known as the 2013 Model-APEC Guangdong final was successfully held in the Library Multi-Function Hall. Sixteen students from various universities in Guangdong with various majors, serving as delegates from sixteen Asian-pacific countries and regions, attended the simulated conference. Finally, the top five contestants, including Chen Qiong and Yi Zhenyu from GDUFS, secured their national final places with their excellent performance.

English was the only procedural language throughout the whole conference, which comprised 3 sections including self-introduction, brief statement and free debate. The contests were divided into 2 groups with 8 contestants each, and the 2 issues respectively allocated to them were "Improving Women's productivity" and "SME's (Small and Medium Enterprises) global competitiveness". During the contest, delegates took turns stating their stands and responding to the questions raised by other delegates, who could vote for or against the speaker. At the last free debate section, all delegates were able to lobby for the votes that they didn't get in the precious section.

Though she majors in Chinese language and literature, her fluent American English and sweet smile deeply impressed the judges and audience. In the self-introduction section, she shared her attitude: 'I love challenges, and that's why I'm here.' She offered her measures on the issue 'Improving women's productivity' in two dimensions, which are to help women promote their competitiveness and to guarantee women's rights and to build a snug working atmosphere.

Before the final result eventually came out, the judges offered their pertinent and valuable comments. Mr. Yang yang commended all the contestants for their excellent performance, but also suggested that delegates should cooperate more rather than compete bitterly. Mrs. Du Yuping emphasized on the importance of being professional and logical and the essence of preparation and research. Mr. Tang Yuhua encouraged the contestants to pay more attention to the practical solutions to the given issues, so as to better recognize their common grounds and achieve win-win cooperation more effectively.
