Feburary 23th--The 4th Canton-Hong Kong French Oratorio Contest was successfully held in--at GDUFS. The contest was organized by GDUFS, the Association of French Teaching of Hong Kong, and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Canton. M. Bruno Bisson, French Consul-General in Guangzhou, together with Fang Fanqun, Vice President of GDUFS, proclaimed the kick-off of the contest. Zheng Lihua, Dean of the Faculty of European Language and Culture, was also in attendance.
This contest is conducted to provide an arena for college students in the Chu Chiang Delta Area to present their language proficiency and express their critical thinking skills. Eight contestants particiapted from the following universities: Hong Kong University of Chinese, Hong Kong Baptist University, Sun Yat-Sen University and GDUF. Their speeches revolved around the topic, "Chu Chiang Delta Benefits Everyone" and was judged by French linguistic experts.
At the beginning, M. Bruno Bisson extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Faculty of European Language and Culture as the undertaker of this contest for the second time, once again manifesting the devotion and enthusiasm for the French language. Vice president Fang Fanquan also expressed his appreciation for the support and trust that has been bestowed on GDUFS and he revealed the aspiration of further international cooperation with universities around the world.

The speeches of the eight contestants were all thought-provoking and striking with their unique features which caused the audience to be completely fascinated by the contest. Finally the the 1st place crown was attained by Xie Jingyi from Sun Yat-Sen University, whose work included a self-made caricature figure that vividly demonstrated the urgent need for government-led promotion on social fairness, legislation, medical care, environmental protection and education, which are key factors of attracting graduates to stay and work in the Chu Chiang Delta Area. In the end, all the contestants took a photo with M. Bruno Bisson to mark the ocassion.
