The Military-Training Performance of This Year Ended Perfectly

On the morning of Sep. 27th, the final performances and the reward ceremonies of the freshmen's military training were held synchronously on both the north and south campuses. During the performance, the valiant girls formed a party emblem on the playground with a uniformed pace, an easy form-transformation and bright-red handkerchiefs. Their aim was to send wishes for the mother-country to thrive and prosper before the National Day.

The joint performance of the military-training commenced at 9:00 a.m. on both campuses. All of the phalanxes marched past the platform energetically with the leading bannerman holding a flag which read "The Military-Training Group of GDUFS". Sui Guangjun, Party Secretary, and Lu Jinghui, Deputy-Secretary of GDUFS, paraded the groups and extended their greetings to the dedicated freshmen.

Next, the navy suit made its appearance for the first time. Boys in the sailor phalanx looked magnificent and mighty with white sailor uniforms and blue collars. Girls in the militiamen phalanx wearing red dresses and white shoes looked beautiful. Those who wore camouflage coats also looked great. All of them marched past in uniform pace.

Then came the military skill performance. The performance of arresting the enemies expressed two kinds of beauty: boys' virility and girls' pliability. The fire-fighting performance showed how to deal with such accidents as fire, electricity-leakage and lightning-strikes. With all kinds of difficult skills shown in the integrated tactical performance, we could tell that they had gone through hard training.

What impressed us most was the girls' gym performance. The girls marched past uniformly with loud military songs. After, they creatively formed various kinds of formations like "big pinwheel", "smiling face", "pentagram", "GDUFS", and "2012".

With the conclusion of the performance, Lu Jinghui and Vice President Chen Deping made a speech at the two campuses. They held that the freshmen had magnificently passed the task of military training with the patient instruction of the drillmasters. They also said that the joint-performance had splendidly expressed the vigorous spirit of contemporary college students.
Then followed the reward section, where the leaders respectively presented the awards to the advanced group, the best-performing group, the most excellent drillmaster, the most excellent instructor, and the most advanced worker of the military training.

Liu Chang, from the School of Journalism and Communication, made a speech as a representative of the freshmen. He said, "We will never stop striving for a better future." The representative drillmaster also made a speech, "What you have gone through with us may not be happy, but you will cherish the memory."
Then came the farewell section, while the drillmasters walked past the platform, the students waved a red handkerchief while singing the songs learned during their training which communicated, "Over the past 15 days, the masters have become our friends." Sometimes silence means more than words.

On the north campus, the following leaders attended the event: Wu Zuqing[1], Xie Bing[2], Chen Junsheng[3], Wang Shiyuan[4], Chen Jianping[5], and Shi Youqi[6].
On the south campus, the following leaders attended the event: Zhou Chuanyou[7], Li Meng, Zheng Xiaobing, Zhang Guizhong, Liu Jianda, Chen Linhan.
