Senior Consultant from Thomson Reuters Corp. Lectures in GDUFS

June 11--For the promotion of the "Flourishing Plan of Philosophy and Social Science", Professor Wan Yuehua, Director of the Library's Information Consultation Department of Zhejiang University of Technology was invited to give a lecture in GDUFS on June 7th. Professor Wan is also the Senior Consultant of Thomson Reuters Corp., one of the biggest sources of information for businesses and professionals, and he is a committee member of Elsevier Scopus' content selection.

 

This lecture was hosted by GDUFS' Library with the Thomson Reuters Corporation's co-organization. Professor Wu Fangfei, the Library Director presided over the whole meeting, where approximately 200 teachers and postgraduates of GDUFS participated.

For years Professor Wan has employed indexes of SCI, SSCT, and A&HCI to develop  science and technology novelty research, doctors and graduates' theses writing guidance, and the application of the research subjects. With his accumulated experience, he gave a specific lecture on how to use SSCI and A&HCI to create innovative work, apply for funds, select a thesis topic, and select periodicals for contribution. He also provided techniques for English thesis writing and the assessment from the same profession.

As he insisted, we must lay more emphasis on international cooperation, the construction of stable research groups, localized subjects, and issues of academic frontiers. Based on the interest in academic research, we can unfold more efficient scientific research by fully making use of the information sources in the library following the track of searching, analyzing, discovering and innovating.

In the end, Professor Wan spent time talking with the audience who shared with us that they gained a lot from this lecture and expected more enlightening lectures and readers' trainings like this in the future.
