June 5-On June 1st, Brian L. Goldbeck, the U.S Consul General to Guangzhou, gave a lecture at the South China Business School of GDUFS and shared with the students about his "career as a diplomat". The President of the South China Business School Liu Jianda and Deputy President Lai Zhili attended the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Mr.Goldbeck attracted the audience's attention with his humorous introduction. He then shared with the students and teachers about his life stories that are deeply connected with China. He has been a great lover of Chinese culture since childhood due to his family background and he took some selected courses on Chinese culture in college. "When we gradually understand each other's culture, we will begin to respect each other." He remarked.

Referring to his career as a diplomat, Mr. Goldbeck recalled his thrice failure as the selection of diplomat. In virtue of his perseverance, he finally transformed from a teacher into today's U.S Consul General to Guangzhou. He encouraged students to hold fast to their dreams with enterprising faith and spiritual support. Moreover, he welcomed students to study in America because they offer favorable policies and admission for overseas students.

In the ensuing communion part, students offered questions on speaking skills, employment, balance between work and life, and interpersonal relationships. Mr. Goldbeck gladly shared his answers on all topics. Mr. Goldbeck remarked that he was deeply impressed by the active questioning of the students in the South China Business School.
In the afternoon, the Vice President of GDUFS and the President of South China Business School Liu Jianda met with Mr. Goldbeck in the VIP Room. Both parties exchanged a cordial dialogue on campus environment, the US overseas study programs and international communication between the two parties.
