【GDUFS Stories】In the Spring of My Life Premieres in GDUFS

On the very special 7th November—GDUFS’s 50th anniversary— the premiere of the movie The Spring of My Life was unveiled in Yunshan Hall. The director, an alumnus of GDUFS who graduated from School of English and Education, attended the premiere.

Before the premiere, a special video produced by GDUFS’s alumni to celebrate GDUFS’s birthday was played on the screen. As the video came to the end, the host stepped out and the premiere began. Apart from director WU Naand her production team, the President of GDUFS ZHONG Weihe also attended.

WU Na was born in 1987, and is one of the most celebrated young directors in China. In 2012, she was awarded Best New Director for her movie Song and Moon. The Spring of My Lifewas another work which starred LUO Yunxi and TAN Songyun, who are both popular actors in China.

The film tells the story of YANG Fangfang(portrayed by TAN Songyun) and GUO Yang(portrayedby LUO Yunxi). During the long and boring high school years, YANG was an ugly duckling. A love letter from her classmate, also her dream lover, GUO Yang ended her quiet life. She began to try to change herself into a beautiful girl in order to meet her Mr. Right. It w not hard to guess that they eventually fell in love. Just like an old saying goes, “Women in love are women with negative IQ”. First love is always immature and irrational.There are many times in the film where YANG went to Guiyang to be reunited with her love. First love is beautiful as well as harmful, and as a result, the ending is not that happy. But, through the film, we can experience the bitterness of first love.
