" I'm grateful that GDUFS provided me with an opportunity to join the internship in the United Nations. The past two and a half months in UN is not only impressive, but also quite significant, which serves as a milestone in my life." Huiyi Wang, a postgraduate student in the School of Interpreting and Translation Studies shared her UN's intership, and her views of study as well as life.

During the two and a half months intership in UN, under the guidance of Mr.PengHui Fu, Mr.EnHao Gao and Ms.Yan Du, Huiyi Wang improved her translation competence and gained in-depth knowledge of U.N.'s daily routines. Every day, she dictated many records of conference interpreting in verbatim manner. Every week, Huiyi translated at least three manuscripts and then discussed with the professor. In the two and a half months, she translated twenty speeches of diverse topics in different lengths.

One of the most impressive experience was that when she attended the activity-- " Chinese Classic Inscribed on Bamboo Slips--The Tsinghua Bamboo Manuscripts and Early Chinese civilization" , as a voluntary reporter, she had the chance to interview JieYi Liu, the new permanent representitive of China to the United Nations. she also gained the chance to listen to Ban Ki-moon's speech and communicated with Hongbo Wu, the vice-secretary general of the United Nations when she attended the reception of the outgoing ambassador Baodong Li. Although she was quite busy, she thought it was worthwhile and memorable.

Huiyi Wang talked about her study and her choice of the major. She compared study to a pyramid which required people to spend more time in accumulating knowledge so as to reach the top eventually. When she was a undergraduate, Broadcasting and Hosting was her major, for she had great interest in it and she thought this major could enable her to have better interactions with the society. Besides, she chose Law as her double major because she believed this major could make her become more right-minded. Thanks to the four years' arduous efforts, she received the postgraduate recommandation to GDUFS' School of Interpreting and Translation Studies before graduation. It was certain that the change in majors had brought her some obstacles, but Huiyi overcame all of them with great determination and perseverance with the help of her professors and classmates. Moreover, Huiyi Wang believed the knowledge as well as skills of translation could help to improve her broadcasting and hosting. Also, all the knowledge she acquired in the university would eventually enable her to prepare well for the future challenges.

No pains, no gains. Huiyi's parents were stricted since she was a little girl. She worked hard on study and developed her interest through participating in a number of activities as a host, such as being an English-Chinese bilingual host in the Asian Games, Shenzhen Universiade and so on.
