The 16th Opening Day of GDUFS Held Successfully

20th June is the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. The 16th session of GDUFS’ opening day was held on the same day at the North Campus of GDUFS. Nineteen different colleges set stalls on the main road of GDUFS. The opening day attracted many students who have just attended the National Matriculation Test and their parents.

 

Students of the Oriental Language College wore different national costumes including Japanese Kimonos, the Korean Hanbok, Indian Punjabi costume, Cambodian Krama, Vietnamese Ao Dais and Indonesian Batiks to show their different and various professions. Students of the Western Language College wore European court dress, and Russian Tetris Dress and Spanish pitbull skirts at the exhibition. On the exhibition of the English Language College, students staged an English Drama Competition, stage photos, posters and a small Shakespearean photo booth. A foreign teacher of the International College handed out a pile of leaflets to the students and their parents to introduce their own college.

Although it was really hot that day, student volunteers said that serving for their alma mater compensated and, for students who are choosing their universities and for their parents on the opening day is a significant thing.

Too, since 2015 is GDUFS’s 50th birthday, the GDUFS Cultural Creativity Pavilion also set up a stall to sell 50th anniversary postcards, baseball uniforms, 50th anniversary rings and bus card with the GDUFS logotype.

 

The academic credit system is a new bright spot as well as foreign language majors, attracting most students and their parents. “I like French and I have heard that the French major is a hot program, so today I came here to inquire something about this major. ”a student named ZHU said to our campus journalist.

 

Apart from language majors, the Economics and Trade major, the Accounting major and the Finance major also attracted many candidate students. When these freshmen-to-be were asked what their ideal university life like , most of them said that they hope their college life should be free and interesting as well as enriching, all of them hope to learn more fresh knowledge at their future university.

 

YU Shengming, Deputy Director the GDUFS Office of Academic Affairs, said that the brightest spot of 2015 enrollment is the credit system reform.

 

He hopes that those freshmen-to-be can take this opportunity to make a suitable life plan. After learning fully about the credit system reform, parents said that this program can give students more choices on what to learn, also students can handle problems on their own study and more flexibly, all of which is very good.

 

“The environment of GDUFS is good, with more trees than the downtown, and air is fresher here. ”a parent said with a satisfied smile.

 

At about eleven o’clock, SUI Guangjun, Secretary of the Party Committee, LIU Jianda and CHEN Hanlin, Vice-Presidents of GDUFS went to the opening day scene to check up on the work,they were accompanied by ZHI Xiucong, Director of the School Office, HU Wentao, Propaganda Minister, JIAO Fangtai, Director of the office.
