Recently I've finished a book, Niuniu, by ZHOU GuoPing, a famous writer in China, written in memory of his one-year-old daughter who died of a serious disease.
Knowwing that his daughter would be dying soon, Zhou seizes every chance of being with her; never missing her smiles, laughter and tears. It is such a complex feeling to live with Niuniu that the experience is full of happiness, sorrow and sympathy. To help his daughter sense the world as fully as possible, ZHOU tries every means to satisfy all her curiosity and interests: he carries her to the river bank to drink in the cool breezes and takes her downstairs to touch the quite cute dog, the family pet.
Mostly, ZHOU holds her, kissing her on the face, smelling her comfortable milk flavor, talking to her constantly to win her love. Absolutely, Niuniu can't live without her father.
The book is written so that parents should thank their children for being given a chance to love them. The more they sacrifice for their children, the more satiated they will be with the wonderful love it is possible to share. It is the children who teach parents how to love so sincerely and without any calculated ideas of reward. In addition, it is the children who lead parents back to nature to see how innocent the world actually is: fish swimming freely in the pond, and butterflies giving such a perfect performance, all of which touches parents to the core, temporarily dragging them from the materialistic world.
Niuniu shows a beautiful and moving picture of family love. We are so fortunate to accompany our parents for so many years, feasting on their love and care. And now it is our turn to treat our parents well. Just as ZHOU, seizes every chance to what it is like to be this babe-in-arms with our parents.
