On October 25, Dr. Yap Meen Sheng, Assistant Provost of Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), and his delegation visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Vice President Jiao Fangtai welcomed the guests at the VIP Hall of the Administration Building on the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides engaged in discussion on talent development and held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony.
Highlights from the Meeting
Vice President Jiao provided a comprehensive overview of GDUFS’s history and highlighted its remarkable achievements in internationalization in recent years. He noted that GDUFS, with its distinctive international focus, has always been dedicated to nurturing high-quality talent with a global perspective. The university currently offers 74 undergraduate programs, including 33 foreign language majors, and has achieved notable success in developing first-class academic disciplines. Additionally, GDUFS has established robust partnerships with 506 universities and academic institutions worldwide, providing abundant international exchange opportunities for both faculty members and students. Jiao stated that the MOU with SUSS marks the beginning of the two universities’ collaboration, and he expressed his anticipation for further substantive progress in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, collaborative research, joint programs, and talent cultivation, with the aim of making a positive contribution to the nurturing of international talent.

Dr. Yap Meen Sheng praised GDUFS for its outstanding accomplishments in international education. He noted that as Singapore’s youngest national university, SUSS is committed to advancing social development, establishing a lifelong learning system, and actively expanding its international cooperation. He expressed hope that this newly established partnership would serve as a foundation for deepening and broadening future collaboration between the two institutions, creating more exchange and internship opportunities for students from both universities.
