Chairman of the Han Cultural Center Malaysia and his Delegation Visits Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On the morning of December 19, Dato Goh Hin San, Chairman of the Han Cultural Center Malaysia (HCCM), and his delegation visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Yan Xiangbin, President of GDUFS, met the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyunshan Campus, and the two sides exchanged views on cultural exchanges and talent training.

Yan Xiangbin introduced in detail the international school-running characteristics of GDUFS and the construction of the Malay language department. He pointed out that GDUFS, with distinct international characteristics, is a key university of the High-Level University Construction Project of Guangdong Province, has carried out cooperation with nearly 500 universities and institutions, established 7 Confucius Institutes (classrooms) overseas, and carried out a lot of practical cooperation with Malaysian universities and institutions in personnel training, academic exchanges and other aspects. The school has significant advantages in the fields of foreign language and literature teaching and research, among which the Malay major is one of the Teaching and Research Centers for Less Commonly Taught Languages issued by the Ministry of Education, and the educational achievements are among the best in China. He said that the delegation’s visit provided a new opportunity for in-depth cooperation between the two sides. He hoped that the two sides would further strengthen cooperation in cultural exchanges, training of international students in China and Chinese teaching, so as to train more high-quality talents for the two countries and build a bridge to enhance China-Malaysia friendship and exchanges.

Goh Hin San expressed his appreciation for the achievements of Malay talent training in GDUFS. He said that HCCM has a good foundation for cooperation with GDUFS. He stressed that the two sides have huge development potential in cultural communication, academic exchanges, and international student training. HCCM is willing to serve as a link between Malaysia-China cultural exchanges, promote civilization mutual learning, and further enhance Malaysia-China cultural cooperation.

Representatives from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures, and Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture attended the meeting.

After the meeting, the delegation met with the Malay majors of the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures, and the students welcomed Dato Goh Hin San and his delegation in fluent Malay. Mr. Goh Hin San shared his experience in learning Malay and encouraged the students to learn Malay well and contribute to the bilateral exchanges between Malaysia and China in the future.
