Cooperation Contributes to Portuguese Education

On the afternoon of 23rd April, LI Xiangyu, the Director of Macao Polytechnic Institute, led a delegation to GDUFS for a profound discussion about Portuguese teaching and further cooperation between the two institutions. President ZHONG Weihe; CAI Hong, the Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; YANG Ke, the Director of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, and other related professors met them in the VIP room of the Administrative Building.

After introducing GDUFS’ recent development, ZHONG elaborated on language services, reform of foreign language teaching and cultivation of foreign language talents. He also demonstrated GDUFS’ determination to establish an opening platform of a multi-language service as a result of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Later, ZHONG expressed his gratitude to LI for his contribution to cultivating the Portuguese degree. He said that without the help from Macao Polytechnic Institute, there would not have been a Portuguese major in GDUFS.

LI said that Macao Polytechnic Institute had cooperated with GDUFS on teaching and research for a long time. Given that Portuguese teaching had a history of over a century in Macao Polytechnic Institute, he believed that the successful partnership between two not only pushed the development of Portuguese teaching, but also contributed to resource sharing-student-teacher interaction between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, which has become more frequent.

That afternoon, President ZHONG had an extensive talk with the delegation from Macao Polytechnic Institute and Chinese translation in No.1 Meeting Room. They discussed further on the strengthening of Portuguese cooperation and the establishment of a Chinese, Portuguese and English translating system.
