Senator of Brazil paid a visit to GDUFS

    On November 3rd, Cristovam Buarque, senator of Brazil paid a visit to GDUFS. The visiting group included , José Vicente Lessa, Eduardo Shana, Marcos de Paiva Vieira and Marcos Dementev Alves Filho. President ZHONG Weihe greeted the group in the VIP Lounge on the first floor of the administrative building on the North Campus, and then a pleasant meeting was held.

By having a better understanding of the educational system, training work of civil servants, Confucius Institutes and its recruitment, Brazil senators' visit to GUDFS aimed to strengthen the mutual understanding between China and Brazil.

 

President ZHONG firstly extended a warm welcome to the senators and then introduced the history and development, construction of subjects, teaching procedures and foreign exchange of GDUFS to the senators. He said that GDUFS has built a long cooperation and exchange with some famous universities, such as the University of Sao Paulo and Recife University and has carried out a series of projects, such as exchange students and teachers. Also, he expressed that GDUFS would further strengthen the cooperation in building a practical cooperative relationship, and work together to promote the relationship between China and Brazil, and the study of Latin America and Portuguese countries with University of Sao Paulo and other universities.

 

The meeting

 

Cristovam Buarque, who showed great interest in GDUFS's foreign language education and Chinese language and culture, hoped that further educational cooperation between China and Brazil could be carried out.

 

After the meeting, President ZHONG sent a gift to the senators and they took pictures together to mark the memorable occasion. The Dean of Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, YANG Ke; Vice Directors of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, YI Zongyong; Deputy Dean of the School of Business, LIANG Jie and Brazilian lecturer, Bruna Morelo, also attended the meeting.
