On November 11th, the representative of the delegation of the Russian International Foundation, President Wilbytskaya, visited GDUFS, along with Ter-Minasova and Guseinova. Secretary SUI GuangJun welcomed them in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building on the North Campus.
Secretary SUI extended a warm welcome to the visit of Wilbytskaya, and thanked them for supporting the development of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, as well as the establishment of the Russian Center at GDUFS. Then he gave a basic introduction of GDUFS to them which included its establishment, history and superiorities in eight humanities and sixteen disciplines. He said we were aiming to make GDUFS an international and high-standard university. Our university has 21 language subjects and cooperates with 322 universities and academic institutions around the world. In particular, Secretary SUI mentioned his visit to Moscow Language University. He also introduced the high employment rate of graduates of GDUFS and the large amount of past and current research projects. With the development of GDUFS, our ability to serve society and government has been promoted largely. China and Russia have not only a long and genuine companionship, but also a bright future. The group’s visit has brought opportunities to both GDUFS and the spread of Russian language and culture.
President Wilbytskaya thanked the introduction of Secretary SUI and gave her best wishes to the 50th anniversary of GDUFS last year, feeling happy for staff at GDUFS that they can work and learn in such a beautiful campus. She spoke highly of the development of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, and expressed her agreement in the importance of humanities. As president of the Education and Science Department of Russian as well as the ex-president of Saint-Petersburg State University, she introduced the two institutions and the establishment of the Language and Cultural Center of Russia. President Wilbytskaya said she had a very good impression of Chinese people’s diligence, emphasizing that Chinese students in Russia have gained the same precious quality as well. In addition, President Wilbytskaya conveyed her hope to enhance the educational connection in both countries. She also thanked GDUFS for holding the Forum of the World of China and Russia, which can not only broaden the spread of Russian culture, but also enhance the communication of staff from both sides. Secretary SUI commended President Wilbytskaya’s foresight in establishing the Language and Cultural Center of Russia, agreeing the essential role education plays in today’s development. He also gave a brief introduction of the educational departments and institutions in China and was willing to help with the connection of bilateral relations. President Wilbytskaya expressed her gratitude for Secretary SUI’s willingness.
At the end of the meeting, Secretary SUI presented President Wilbytskaya with a special silk-made album of eight significant tourist attractions in Guangzhou and gifts to two other Russian friends. Representatives of GDUFS, CAI Hong and YANG Ke, also attended the meeting. Secretary SUI and President Wilbytskaya, as well as four other people, took photos together.
