North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, October 22nd 2019: Bai Luqian, the Consul General of Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou visited GDUFS. Shi Youqi, the president of GDUFS, met the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building on North Campus. The two sides had a discussion on strengthening cultural exchange between China and Italy.
The Talk Between the Two Sides
SHI expressed a warm welcome upon the visit of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou. He introduced the internationalized features of GDUFS and the excellent achievement that GDUFS has acquired with its Italian major in recent years. He noted that there is tight cooperation and exchange between GDUFS and the Consulate General of Italy. Italian Language and Culture Week has held continuously for 19th consecutive years, providing a wonderful platform for promoting culture exchanges between China and Italy, which embodies the value and support of the Consulate to cultural exchange between China and Italy. He also said GDUFS looks forward to deeper exchanges and cooperation with Italian universities and wished the 19th Italian Culture Week a smooth development.
Bai Luqian expressed her gratitude to teachers and students of Italian major at GDUFS for the positive effort made on the transmission of Italian and said that students are not only the best transmitter of the two countries’ culture but also the best diplomatist. Bai mentioned that this year the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou has invited specially an Italian writer, Beppe Severgnini, the best representative of Italian culture, to deliver a lecture for GDUFSers. She believed that this outstanding writer is certainly helpful for students at GDUFS to gain a more profound understanding of Italian culture. Bai also said the Consulate General of Italy at GDUFS is willing to continuously deepen the exchanges between the two countries through GDUFS and carry out broader cooperation.
