North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, December 4th2018: Ivan Silva, the new Consul General of Peru in Guangzhou, visited GDUFS with his team. SHI Youqi, President of GDUFS, greeted the guests in the Reception Hall in the Administration Building.
The meeting went well
During the meeting, SHI gave the guests a brief introduction about the Spanish major of GDUFS. He pointed out that GDUFS, being among the first universities to set up Spanish courses after the founding of New China, has built strong relationships with 53 countries and regions, as well as over 380 academic and cultural institutions. GDUFS has established five Confucius Institutes, among which the Confucius Institute at Catholic University of Santa Maria has been especially fruitful. SHI expressed the hopes that both sides can deepen collaboration in terms of mutual teachers’ visits, students exchange programs, and academic research, which can eventually strengthen economic and cultural cooperation between two nations and make contributions to the success of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Ivan Silva noted that there would be two large-scale activities in the form of photograph exhibitions and seminars next year. One is the 15th anniversary celebration of the establishment of twin cities — Guangzhou and Arequipa. The second one is the 170th anniversary celebration of the first immigrants to Peru. He hoped the two sides can expand the realms of collaboration and promote economic and cultural progress.
