GDUFS Delegation Visited Japan and Bangladesh

From November 15^th to November 21^st, Vice President HE Chuantian led a delegation to Sapporo University, Hiroshima University and Bangladesh Dhaka University, advanced cooperation between universities as well as visited the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Bangladesh-China People's Friendship Association and OPPO Bangladesh Communications Corp. Ltd.

On November 16^th, HE Chuantian visited Sapporo University and attended the Council of Confucius Institutes of Sapporo University with his delegation. Takagawa YUKKI, shareholder representative of Sapporo University; Atsushi SUZUKI, headmaster, and Yamada Suzuki, the deputy headmaster met the delegation. They looked back on the former cooperation built on friendly relationship and both sides agree the idea that they should strengthen the cooperation and work together to accelerate the development of both universities and the construction of the Confucius Institute. At the Confucius institute council meeting, all council members heard the 2018 career report and funding condition. The Reelection of Confucius Institute Board, Chinese and foreign candidates for the president project, Chinese teacher selection plan and some other projects also have been passed after deliberation.

HE Chuantian visited students from GDUFS who are now studying at Sapporo University. Student representatives reported their condition of study and life in Sapporo University and represented their studying achievement in Japanese. HE Chuantian encouraged students to value the time studying abroad, to learn and communicate positively, and to advance their studying efficiency.

On November 19^th, He Chuantian and the delegation visited Hiroshima University and met headmaster Ochi Mitsuo and deputy headmaster Sato Toshiyuki. With HE representing GDUFS, and Ochi Mitsuo Hiroshima University, they signed the Inter-school Cooperation agreement and Student Joint Training agreement. They both hoped to further enhance deep cooperation in the fields of students’ communication, scholars’ visits exchanging, and scientific studies. HE Chuantian, on behalf of SHI Youqi, President of GDUFS, invited Ochi Mitsuo to visit GDUFS in the future.

In the afternoon, on November 20^th, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and was warmly welcome by ambassador ZHANG Zuo. He introduced the history of friendly interaction between China and Bangladesh, Political, economic and social development conditions in Bangladesh and the status quo of Chinese enterprises’ participation in construction in Bangladesh. He also pointed out that Bangladesh, with its great potential to develop, positively supports and remains fully committed in the Belt and Road initiative, and that international investment is in great demand. Chinese enterprises play an important role in the construction of Bangladesh. He hoped more international Bengali-specialized assets would be cultivated at GDUFS to satisfy the continually increasing demand for cultural and economic exchanges. HE Chuantian briefed the achievements and efforts in Language Construction of the countries involved in the Belt and Road project; in country regional studies; and in cultivation of international governance talents.

In the evening of November 20^th, HE and his delegation were invited to dinner by the Bangladesh-China people's Friendship Association. The association consultant and former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, ABUL HASSAN CHOWDHURY; the association president and former ambassador to China, C.M. SHAFI SAMI; the deputy president, MAHFUZ ULLAH; and the secretary-general, SHAHRIAR ZAMAN SHUMAN had communicated with the delegation. They reviewed the history of friendly exchanges and hoped to strengthen cooperation between each other, and to boost the cultivation of talents and cultural exchanges. A draft memorandum of cooperation agreement has been discussed and will be signed recently.

In the morning, on November 21^st, the delegation visited Bangladesh Dhaka University and had a deep talk about cooperation between two universities with headmaster, AKHTARUZZAMAN; president of the modern language college and Confucius Institute, SHISHIR BHATTACHARJA; and Head of the Department of Chinese, AFZAL HOSSAIN. Both sides agreed to deepen inter-school cooperation and launch the activities in students’ exchanges, scholars’ visits and cooperative studies. They discussed the students’ exchanges. HE Chuantian welcome headmaster AKHTARUZZAMAN to visit GDUFS and to carry out agreement signing. Later the delegation visited the campus.

In the afternoon of November 21^st, HE Chuantian and the delegation visited Oppo Bangladesh Communications Corp. Ltd., and he learned the development condition of Chinese enterprises and demand for talents. Dean of Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture and Faculty of Asian and African Studies, CHEN Duoyou, signed Student Practice Base Agreement with the responsible person in OPPO, Bangladesh.
