It has been a month and a half since September 9th, the first day of the new term for freshmen. Before they stepped onto the campus, there is no doubt that all of them had been longing for this new step forward and were also eager to know what life will be like at university. Right now, probably most of them already have an answer to this question. Three students from other parts of China would like to share their new experience and stories at GDUFS.
Arthur, a student from Jiangxi province, fell in love with the 2nd canteen recently. “The food there is incredible!” He said, “I barely ate meals in the canteen when I was in high school. But the canteen at university really impressed me and changed my stereotype. I have tasted many new kinds of food during the past several weeks and to my surprise they are inexpensive and yummy. I can eat here for every meal, and no longer need to turn to the take-out food.” As a highly-developed province, Guangdong is famous as “the province of fine cuisine”. The reputation surely remains true at GDUFS. There are five canteens on campus. Not only can you enjoy real Cantonese food, but also you can have a taste of different flavors from other provinces, and the cost for an ordinary meal is 6 - 12 yuan in average. “Honestly, Canton is not my hometown, where the food tastes spicy.” Arthur smiled. “It’s difficult for me to eat only mild flavors, and I miss the red peppers. If there’s a chance for me I will definitely introduce my hometown food to my classmates in Guangdong.”
Henry, a student from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is fond of the weather in Guangzhou. “The weather is nice, with a hint of coolness.” He said, “I think the weather in Hong Kong is so horrible that I feel uncomfortable. Because the temperature in Hong Kong is too high – around 40 degree Celsius. Sometimes I can fry eggs under the sunlight. But at GDUFS, the situation has changed. I think the weather in Guangzhou is comfortable for me. The temperature is about 34 Celsius. I like to study at GDUFS.” He believed that the good weather made him feel cheerful and relaxed all the time so he can concentrate on studying easily.
Lin, a student from Northeast China, appreciates the warmth of her friends at GDUFS. “Living here seems like living at home,” he said. “I came from the Northeast of China and the distance between Guangzhou and my hometown is approximately 4000km. When I just arrived at GDUFS, I felt lonely and scared, because I didn’t meet any friends, and it was inconvenient to go back to my hometown.” But a few days ago, he met some new friends who changed his mind. He thought the roommates, classmates, and lecturers were really nice and talkative. Therefore, he wasn’t afraid anymore. He’s integrated into GDUFS.
Conclusively speaking, GDUFS is a good place to study. You may need to spend some time getting to know it first. When you do, you won’t regret having chosen to be here and you will say “I love GDUFS” without the slightest hesitation.
