North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, July 24th 2018: On July 24th, Hong Sung-wook, the new Korean Consul General in Guangzhou, and his team visited GDUFS.
SHI Youqi, the President of GDUFS, met the guests in the VIP Room of the North Campus Lounge. Both sides discussed the issues about the cooperation between GDUFS and Korean colleges and universities.
SHI Youqi briefly introduced the running situation of GDUFS to the guests. He pointed out that the Korean major in GDUFS is the first batch of special specialty construction sites of the Ministry of Education as well as the first Korean major of all universities in South China. In the last three years, the student employment rate has reached 100%. This semester, there are 103 Korean students in GDUFS, which take the largest part of all the foreign students. GDUFS has established cooperative relations with 28 Korean universities and institutions. SHI Youqi also expressed the hope of collaborating with more Korean universities in the aspects of student exchange, teacher exchange, scientific research, academic research and joint training.
The both sides
Hong Sung-wook affirmed the development of the Korean major of GDUFS and said that he would pay more attention to the construction of the Korean language department of GDUFS. He mentioned that the number of Korean students in GDUFS has proven the close exchanges between China and South Korea and hoped that these students could promote the cooperation. He also expressed the hope that the universities of China and South Korea could conduct close exchanges, enhance the level of cooperation and expand cooperation areas.
CAI Hong, the Director of the Office for International Cooperation and Exchange, LIANG Xuehong, Dean of the Institute for International Education, and relevant leaders of the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures also attended the meeting.
