JIAO Fangtai extended a warm welcome to Edmundo Bustos and his delegation, and expressed sincere thanks to their contribution in donating books and launching the lecture successfully. Looking back at the delegation’s visits in March and May respectively as well as the close connection between the two sides’ teachers and students, he believed the cooperation between GDUFS and Chile is fruitful and has been normalized. JIAO Fangtai also expressed his hope that the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures will pay more attention to Chile’s outstanding literature, and that scholars will be actively involved in translating literary works. He also put forward his expectation that more achievements will be acquired via bilateral collaboration.

Edmundo Bustos donated the book The Sun is the Only Seed written by Gonzalo Rojas, Chilean famous poet, to GDUFS. As he mentioned, Chilean literature plays an important role in Latin culture. Enhancing the communication with Chinese literary culture has long been the desire of the Chilean consulate, and to make headway in respect of Latin literature translation in conjunction with Chinese scholars is always expected. In addition, he expressed the hope that more cross-culture communication activities could be hosted in Guangzhou, like movie projection.

Following the talks, Edmundo Bustos brought an excellent speech to teachers and students in the Spanish Department to introduce Chilean Culture.

YANG Ke, Dean of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures as well as YI Zongyong, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, also attended the meeting.
