LIANG Xuehong, Dean of the Institute for International Education, stated that Prosperity and Harmony are the two important elements in Core Socialist Values. He hoped that this topic will bring about the resonance between Chinese students and international students. President XI Jinping defined Chinese Dream as the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the greatest dream that the Chinese nation has had since the 18th century. The dream is about the prosperity of the country, the rejuvenation of the nation and the happiness of the people.

SHEN Dongmiao, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department, mentioned that in this multi-cultural era, we all wish the world to be harmonious and prosperous. Through the communication, the young generation will know each other better and develop friendships, and that’s the real purpose of this symposium.

During the free talk session, students all shared their views actively. A student from the School of Business said that prosperity is people living a happy life and the country improving its international status. A student from Yemen mentioned there should be a step-by-step process to achieve harmony, that is, from the small scale of harmony in the family to the large scale of harmony in the whole country. A Bulgarian student expressed the view that prosperity means a country being powerful and harmony means a balanced development. A student from the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures mentioned that harmony is the solid foundation of prosperity; there won’t be any chance of development in an unstable country. Whereas Russian student offered three key words: Respect, Conscious and Self-reliant.
