Sixteen Yunshan Scholars Employed

On May 6th, the employment ceremony of Yunshan scholars was held in the VIP hall on the North Campus. President ZHONG Weihe awarded the letters of appointment to sixteen new Yunshan scholars. Attendees included President ZHONG Weihe; Vice President YANG Aimin; leaders from the Collaborative Innovation Center for Foreign Language Study and Language Services, the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures, the Research Center of International Economy and Trade, the CISCO Institute of Information, the Study Center of Cantonese Merchants and Guangdong International Institute for Strategic Studies and sixteen Yunshan scholars.

The ceremony was presided over by Vice President YANG Aimin, who began the meeting with a brief introduction about the sixteen Yunshan scholars and extended a warm welcome and congratulations to them for joining GDUFS. He pointed out that the Yunshan Scholar Job Plan was a specific plan to bring in the talents as well as an important measure to carry out the Strategy of Reinvigorating College through Talents. Until now, GDUFS has recruited 99 Yunshan scholars in total (current sixteen Yunshan scholars not included), 86 of which are now in their duration. Then he introduced numerous achievements of sixteen Yunshan scholars in detail, including their education backgrounds, professional titles as well as brilliant influences. And the brief awarding ritual ensued.

After this, sixteen scholars expressed their own feelings respectively. They said that it was a great honor to become members of GDUFS, and they showed their gratitude for a good platform as well as supports from all aspects provided by GDUFS. And they would spare no effort to be fully devoted to their own work, so as to make contributions to the development of GDUFS.

At last, President ZHONG Weihe gave a brief speech in which he conveyed a warm welcome and sincere thanks to the sixteen scholars for joining our university. He said that he was so delighted, because it was the first time since 2002 that such a large number of scholars have been recruited. He indicated that it would be helpful to build GDUFS as an international university and promote our educational quality with the help of these sixteen scholars. He also showed his high appreciations to their accomplishments and abilities. When it came to the 4th China Discipline Ranking (CDR) and the Maritime Silk Road, President ZHONG believed that these sixteen Yunshan scholars would make contributions to lead and promote the construction of these two subjects on a new start. Finally, he hoped that GDUFS could create an academic atmosphere and comfortable conditions for these scholars to work and enjoy their life.
