On May 15th, President ZHONG Weihe met with Dr. ZHANG Shuguang, the Rector of City University of Macau (CityU), and negotiated about further cooperation between two universities. Other attendees were Dr. LI Shuying, the Director of Academic Affairs Office of CityU; Prof. FANG Fanquan, the Vice President of GDUFS, and directors from GDUFS.
ZHONG warmly welcomed ZHANG, showing his immense respect of ZHANG’s academic achievement. ZHONG emphasized the significance of deepening communications with CityU, as it has numerous research resources which can boost the development of GDUFS. Then, ZHONG introduced the impressive progress GDUFS has made in recent years, including expanding exchange projects with 305 foreign universities, successfully holding the 50th anniversary and setting new subjects. He genuinely looked forward to further cooperation with CityU.
ZHONG negotiating with ZHANG
Agreeing with ZHONG, ZHANG thought that there were many similarities between the two universities, which both pay great attention to commerce, social science, and language education. That undoubtedly lays a solid foundation for extensive communication.
CityU is a young university and is undergoing a crucial transformation. To begin with, as one of the universities that are contributing to the Silk Road Project, CityU is supported by the government and is expected to get more academic achievements. In addition, the university is determined to develop Portuguese studies, and it is planning to publish a Portuguese magazine. Moreover, to foster students’ comprehensive ability, CityU hopes for a larger number of vacation opportunities at GDUFS, which aims to be one of the most influential language universities in mainland China. Therefore, a tight relationship between CityU and GDUFS is extremely desirable.
