President of GDUFS and His Counterpart of University of Saint Thomas Hold Talks to Cement Partnership

On December 3rd 2015, ZHONG Weihe, President of GDUFS, welcomed the delegation of University of Saint Thomas(UST) in the Guest Hall of The Administrative Building, together with YANG Ke, Dean of Faculty of European Languages and Cultures; ZHU Wenzhong, Executive Dean of the School of Business and YI Zongyong, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

 

At the very start, President ZHONG gave a brief speech in a pleasing atmosphere. He said that it had been the first visit to GDUFS for Dr. Jaime Vatter, his counterpart, since 2010, and showed a warm welcome. Regarding UST as an important partner in South Africa, President ZHONG fully affirmed the close cooperation between the two universities in the previous five years, and also looked far ahead in the future, calling for enhancing a more fruitful cooperation.

 

President ZHONG was talking to Dr. Jaime Vatter pleasantly.

 

President ZHONG’s speech was followed by an enthusiastic response of Dr. Jaime Vatter, who agreed to take the partnership to a further level with joint efforts of both sides. To deepen the cooperation, three UST teachers will come to GDUFS from Chile next week to attend academic seminars here. He also hoped that more universities from Latin American nations could be engaged in the academic communication program. Dr. Jaime Vatter meanwhile sincerely expressed best wishes to GDUFS for its 50th anniversary.

 

In addition, Mr. Roberto Lafontaine, Director of International Projects of UST, highly appreciated the exchange students from GDUFS, and approved of conducting more exchange programs.

After the formal talk, the attendees had a casual conversation together, and thereafter both sides exchanged gifts with each other. The meeting finally drew to a close at 12:00pm, which certainly served a good attempt and a platform of further cooperation.
