Opening the ceremony, Vice President FANG introduced the current situation and future plans of GDUFS. To achieve the goal of being a more internationalized university, GDUFS has already opened its arms to welcome different cultures. As far as FANG is concerned, the 15th Week of the Italian Language, under the theme of “Musical Appeal of Italian”, will undoubtedly promote students to catch the beauty of Italian through a series of events. FANG also expected further cooperation with the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou, in terms of the introduction of foreign talents, the establishment of practice bases and the development of scientific research.

Being a pleasing language to hear, Italian flows into the listeners’ heart just like a piece of wonderfully melodic music. Lady Egoli believed that students’ understanding of Italian will surely be deepened and enhanced if they are fully immersed into the culture of Italy. Recalling the 14th Week of the Italian Language, Lady Egoli said proudly, “Outstanding works that won the Witch Award were translated into 23 languages by more than 300 students from around the world with great enthusiasm.” Looking forward to the 15th Week of the Italian Language, she was delighted that 35 GDUFS students would take part in the translation contest – six times the number of last year. Last but not least, lady Egoli wished a great success for the week-long events including film shows: La Sedia della Felicità, Una Sconfinata Giovinezza, and the meeting with two Jazz musicians, a music producer Ivano Fossati and a reputable actor from Switzerland.
