On April 24, the conference and donation ceremony of the Comparative Study Between Pantun Melayu and Chinese Folk Songs, a book studying the Malay culture, written byretired Professor XU Younian, was held in the International Conference Hall of the North Campus of GDUFS. Professors XU Younian, XIU Fei, of the Consul-General of the Indonesian Consulate in Guangzhou, and GDUFS Vice President FANG Fanquan were present.

FANG Fanquan mentioned in his speech that GDUFS has developed, gradually consolidated and deepened cooperation with Indonesian universities. Indonesian teaching in GDUFS has gained great support of Indonesian embassy and consulate in China. GDUFS has also conducted a series of activities related to Indonesian teaching, which promotes cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between Indonesia and China. Meanwhile, FANG Fanquan also pointed out that Professor XU Younian is diligent in writing and has many works. At his old ages he still dedicates himself to cultural exchange between the two countries with full enthusiasm and he has made a helpful contribution to prosper Chinese literature and culture and deepen the mutual understanding between Indonesia and China.

XIU Fei stressed in her speech that Comparative Study between Pantun Melayu and Chinese Folk Song has a significantly profound meaning, which has not only made a great contribution to literature, but also enhanced the mutual understanding, bilateral friendship and harmonious relationship between Indonesia and China. She also expressed that Professor XU has devoted his whole life to propel cultural exchange between Indonesia and China and he hopes that people of the two countries can benefit from the friendly and close relationship between Indonesia and China.

Professor XU Younian expressed that the publishing of this new book aims to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Indonesia and the 60th anniversary of the holding of the Asian-African Conference in Bandung. He introduced his life during which he was born in 1992 in Indonesia and grew up in Indonesia, and showed his deep feelings to Indonesia and his wish and resolution to promote the cultural exchange and further the friendship and mutual understanding between China and Indonesia.
