Strategic Research Base of the Ministry of Education Established at GDUFS

On May 10^th, the opening ceremony of the Strategic Research Base of the Ministry of Education, the international strategic research center of 21^st century Maritime Silk Road and Regional Innovation, was held at the Guangdong Academy of International Strategic Studies on the North Campus of GDUFS. Participants were: GAO Runsheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Education; WU Baoyu, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Office at Guangdong Education Department; SUI Guangjun, Secretary of the Party Committee, and YANG Aimin, Deputy President of GDUFS.

GAO Runsheng highly appreciated the accomplishments achieved by Guangdong Academy of International Strategic Studies. He also expressed his hope for the development of the strategic research base from three aspects. Firstly, he expects it to be well positioned and fully showcasing GDUFS’s advantages and characteristics. Scholars from GDUFS are expected to contribute to significant academic activities, especially international forums both home and abroad. Secondly, he hopes there will be new issues under discussion answering new demand. That is, the think tank is supposed to identify the dynamic of social development, come up with new issues actively according to social demand, and contribute substantially to the studies of three “global” (global management, global innovative growth and global sustainable development of economy). Thirdly, he looks forward to new strategies and a new goal. The Strategic Research Studies Base will be forged into a nationally significant laboratory like an encyclopedia, building three “tanks” (talents tanks, data tanks and knowledge tanks), constructing three “communities” (resource community, interest community and destiny community of cooperative innovation), as well as elaborating the three-step development strategy. He speculates that the establishment of the strategic research base and development of GDUFS will help each other forward, realizing the strategic vision of Chinese characteristics, GDUFS’ style, promoting the university, its subjects and scholars to be world first-class ones.

SUI Guangjun showed gratitude on behalf of GDUFS to the Department of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Education for its energetic support of education and scientific research at GDUFS. He reported that GDUFS, together with Guangdong Academy of International Strategic Studies, have made sizable progress in construction of high-end think tanks, revolving around the country’s strategic demand and the development of Guangdong Province. SUI also told him that GDUFS would organize special staff to reinforce scientific research and analysis continuingly, help the country with advice and suggestion, and perform the construction of strategic research studies base at our best endeavor.

At last, WU Baoyu read out the approval of the Ministry of Education, The Announcement of Confirming the Establishment of Strategic Research Base of Science and Technology Committee in Ministry of Education. The opening ceremony was hosted by YANG Aimin, and present were CHEN Yanhui and PAN Xiangyu, Director and Vice Director of Department of Science and Technology in our university; ZENG Chuhong, Deputy General Secretary of Guangdong Academy of International Strategic Studies and several researchers.
