Baiyun Mountain Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, April 28, 2023: On the morning of April 28, Consul General Alex Goldman Shayman of the Consulate General of the State of Israel in Guangzhou and his delegation visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. Jiao Fangtai, the vice-principal of GDUFS, met with the guests in the VIP lounge of the administrative building of the Baiyun Mountain campus. Both sides exchanged views on talent cultivation, cultural exchange, and other related matters.
Jiao Fangtai warmly welcomed Alex Goldman Shayman and his delegation, and provided a comprehensive overview of GDUFS's history and unique characteristics, as well as the establishment of its Hebrew major. He emphasized that the university places great importance on improving its international talent cultivation and teaching staff, striving to encourage domestic students and scholars to explore opportunities to study abroad, and welcomes foreign students and scholars to participate in various exchange programs and collaborative initiatives, facilitating mutual learning and growth.
GDUFS launched the Hebrew major in 2021, the first of its kind in southern China with more than 20 undergraduate students currently enrolled. The university values cooperation with universities in Israel and hopes that this visit by the Consul General will inject new impetus into the exchange and cooperation in various fields between the two sides, and jointly advance our friendly relationship to a new level.

Alex Goldman Shayman expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome, and praised the university’s achievements in internationalization and the establishment of its Hebrew major. He also expressed his hope to continue strengthening cooperation and exchange in the future, co-organizing academic and cultural activities, enhancing the connections between universities or institutions in China and Israel, and thus promoting deep and practical educational cooperation between China and Israel.
