International Exchanges and Cooperation 

International exchanges and cooperation have played an important role in the development of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. By the end of 2001, the University had established intercollegiate cooperative relations with 40 universities from 20 countries and regions in the world. In 2001, 271 faculty members and students went abroad from the university for advanced training, academic visits and participation in international conferences and seminars. Every year students from Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, France, and many other countries study Chinese and other subjects in the university.

The University has developed excellent relationships with many other countries and regions. More than 500 foreign guests and members of international organizations from all over the world visit this university every year. They include high-ranking officials, scholars and delegations. Their visits have promoted mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and the peoples of other countries.

The University has hosted many international conferences and symposia, including the International Symposium on English Teaching in China, the 8th European Union Conference, Seminaire Interculturel Sino-Francais De Canton, the Contemporary English Literature Conference, and the International Symposium on Communicative Teaching,International Conference on American Literary & Cultural Studies, Globalization & China: International Conference on China-France Cross-cultural Studies.
