Chairman of the Council of Makerere University of Uganda visits GDUFS

On April 23rd, Charles Wanaatiyam, Chairman of the Council of Makerere Universityof Uganda, visited the GDUFS. SUI Guangjun, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University met with the guests in the VIP Room of the Administrative Building on the North Campus. Both parties discussed in detail deeper cooperation in the future.

 

SUI Guangjun Holds Talks with Charles Wanaatiyam

 

SUI Guangjun mentioned that with the advancement of globalization, Sino-African interrelation has become increasingly close. GDUFS has set up disciplines around the core of internationalization to strengthen the training of foreign language talents. SUI Guangjun stated that the cooperation between the two parties can not only strengthen the academic exchanges and mutual visits, but also establish a cooperative relationship at the level of language teaching. There are also great opportunities for cooperation in other fields, such as African studies, research cooperation, business and management. Both the humanities and social sciences majors can carry out academic cooperation and research with Makerere University.

 

Charles Wanaatiyam stated that China's economy is developing rapidly and China-Africa exchanges are becoming more frequent,and so Chinese talents are urgently needed. The purpose of this visit was to establish a cooperative relationship with the University and promote specific cooperation projects between the two universities. He mentioned that the University of Makerere attaches great importance to the establishment of a cooperative relationship with the University, and is therefore very much looking forward to the visit of GDUFS’ officials and further discussions on specific cooperation projects.

 

Also attending the talks were the Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, CAI Hong, and he Dean of theInstitute for International Education, LIANG Xuehong.

 

Established in 1922, the University of Makerere is the largest institution of higher learning in Uganda. It is among the top three universities in Africa. Six African presidents graduated from the university. The university comprises of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, School of Computer and Information Science, School of Business and Management Science, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and agriculture, forestry, medicine, biology, and sociology are among the top.After more than 90 years of development, the University of Makerere continues to give full play to its advantages, and gradually raises the level of internationalization through international cooperation and regional development. It has become Uganda's most representative higher education institution and scientific research institution.
