171st Yunshan Academic Salon, 52nd Europe Forum: Migration and Identity in European Context

Prof. Ching Lin Pang teaches courses related to China, globalization, migration and identity in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Anthropology and Political Science) at K.U.Leuven and in the Business Department at HEC-ULg. Her research topics concern migration (policies), motilities and intercultural flows between and in China and Belgium/EU embedded in the metropolitan context, Anthropology of identity and migration from an everyday perspective, cultural globalization in the urban setting: trans local entrepreneurship, development of ethnic precincts such as Chinatowns in European countries, place making; the (re)making of 'Chinese-ness', 'Korean-ness', etc. with geographical focuses on Europe: Chinese (Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese), Indians and South Koreans in the Belgian/European setting; China: identity, mobility of majority and minorities in China: Beijing, Canton, Shanghai, Yiwu, Yunnan Province; Mobility and trans local movements: Shanghai-Canton-Kinshasa; Beijing-Brussels. She is member of different European and Asian networks in the area of anthropology, ethnicity, urban studies and development. As a diaspora Chinese, based in Brussels she speaks fluently Dutch, French, English, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and Japanese.
